Reflections on 2022: What I Learned and Where I'm Going

This year began with a lot of hopes and ambitions in general and especially in artistic ventures. Despite all of the university grind and the rigorous schedules, I tried to stay in touch with art. My 2022 began with an internship, where I got the opportunity to paint an artwork for the company I was working for and in the meantime, I had the chance to display my artwork at the World Art Dubai.

The most exciting part about this year was that I finally took blogging seriously and hope to keep at it. Blogging made me realize the importance of art and taught me so much about the art world and about art itself as a subject, all the while also creating a few sketches too. I understood that in order to enhance my art I had to also improve my artistic sense and I needed a platform, a system where I could do this. Along with that, I wanted to share with others what art is, what it stands for and how deep rooted it is. This here, is the beginning of my blogging journey. Through these 21 blogs I have immensely developed myself as an artist. The knowledge I gain throughout this practice helps create my artworks and in a way these themes and ideas are what reflects in them. This helps me create and develop my art through reflections on them, and reflections on the works of other artists to help me better understand how art works.

I truly believe that art is just not about drawing or painting, rather it covers a wide array of domains which can be discovered and explored. These aspects include understanding art movements, like realism and romanticism, trying to answer age old questions like “Is art really necessary?”, diving deep into historic artists like Gustave Courbet and appreciating his works thoroughly, and attending art events to learn from contemporary artists like Kristel Bechara and Jono Dry. Blogging helps me explore those areas, while my readers stay updated on what I’m up to, and that helps build credibility for me.

This journey has helped me in many different ways, some that I hadn't even thought of, and for that I am truly thankful. It has also connected me with many people whose comments and feedback are of a huge value to me. Many friends and peers have also remarked and opinionated about my art, expressing the amount to which I had an impact in their life. Even though it's merely a blog, contributing to the community feels wonderful.

I have produced 6 pieces of art, one of which I have not yet released and one which is currently still under progress. You should definitely check out the series I created earlier this year titled: "REMINISCENCE"

I was similarly blessed with the opportunity to present a sketch of a Horse to His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin two months back. Presenting an artwork to His Holiness was a deeply humbling and awe-inspiring experience. As I stood in front of the esteemed individual, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous excitement as I prepared to present my artwork. Despite the nerves, I was also filled with pride and a deep sense of accomplishment, knowing that I was representing not only myself, but also my artwork to this esteemed personality. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and one that I will always cherish.

Likewise, it was such a great achievement to have been featured on the Dawoodi Bohra website. Being featured on a website for my work was a truly exhilarating experience. It was a validation of all the hard work and dedication I had put into my craft, and it was a testament to the fact that my efforts had been recognized by others. It was a moment of pride and accomplishment, and it made me feel like all of my hard work had truly paid off. I was proud to see my work displayed prominently on the website, and it was a moment that I will always remember. It was a privilege to be featured, and I am grateful for the opportunity.

I've learned a lot this year, and the three things that top the list are practice, experimenting, and obtaining feedback, and all these I've been able to do through my blog. I'm immensely eagar to see what it brings me.
