Story behind my artwork: "لتعارفوا, unity in diversity"

Greetings, art enthusiasts! Today, I want to delve into the story behind my artwork "لتعارفوا, unity in diversity" inspired by the powerful Quranic verse, "And we made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another."

This journey wasn't just about creating art; it was a personal challenge, a test of resilience, and ultimately, a triumph of unity expressed through diversity.

Imagine this: You have 10 days to participate in a prestigious competition hosted by Souqaljami, Abu Dhabi. The pressure is on, and your creative vision goes back and forth in your mind.

That was my reality, and I knew I had to create something meaningful, something that resonated with the verse's message of unity amongst our differences.

My initial idea took form with interlocked hands, symbolizing connection and understanding. But it felt incomplete, lacking the depth I yearned for.

Interlocked hands

I wanted to focus on the contrast that the Quran states in the verse – that different nations and tribes are created for us to know each other.

These two opposite themes were something I wanted to bring forth in the composition. Then, serendipity intervened.

Stumbling upon an image of two puzzle pieces, a spark ignited. The concept blossomed – hands forming puzzle pieces, each unique yet fitting together seamlessly.

However, crafting this vision into reality demanded meticulous effort. It took two days solely to design the reference image, carefully arranging the elements to weave a story of unity. \

As the clock ticked relentlessly, doubts crept in. Could I finish the artwork in time? Yet, I persisted, embracing a "win-win" mentality. Even if the deadline loomed, the artwork itself would exist, a testament to my artistic pursuit.

And exist it did, surpassing my expectations! The final piece, titled "لتعارفوا, unity in diversity" resonated with audiences beyond measure. The response was phenomenal, a validation of the message and the emotions poured into its creation.

This experience solidified my artistic purpose: to create art with meaning and depth, art that narrates stories and concepts that connect with the community and spark conversations.

While wildlife remains a cherished subject, "لتعارفوا" stands as a reminder that art can be a powerful tool for understanding and celebrating our diverse tapestry.

But my creative journey doesn't end here. In my next blog, I'll explore the realm of productivity, sharing how I implement it in my art and daily life. Stay tuned for that exploration, and until then, let's continue to celebrate the beauty of unity in diversity, both in art and in life!
